Since it operates on the suction produced by your pump and filter system, it runs automatically whenever your pump is operating. About Suction Side Cleaners:
Suction side automatic pool cleaners utilize the suction of your pool's existing pump & filter system. The vac easily hooks up to your pool skimmer. If your skimmer has a dedicated suction line, a suction side pool vac can connect to that as well.
