Prepared with Milk. (Pasteurized, Sterilized)
For 200 ml of Milk
(water glass full), (Pasteurized, Sterilized);
30 gr of Powder Sahlep Drink  (3 dessert spoon full) - sweet taste, thick structure.
25 gr of Powder Sahlep Drink  (2,5 dessert spoon full) - medium sweet taste, medium thick structure.
20 gr of Powder Sahlep Drink  (2 dessert spoon full) - less sweet taste, not thick structure.
For 1 Lt. of Milk
(Pasteurized, Sterilized);
150 gr of Powder Sahlep Drink  (6 dinner spoon full) - sweet taste, thick structure.
125 gr of Powder Sahlep Drink  (5 dinner spoon full) - medium sweet taste, medium thick structure.
100 gr of Powder Sahlep Drink  (4 dinner spoon full) - less sweet taste, not thick structure.

Preparation :
Prepare the Powder Sahlep Drink with the cold milk as requested. Mix well in the medium heat until it boils. Be careful not to burn the sahlep.
Machine Preparation : Pour the cold milk in advance to the Sahlep machine and then add the powder sahlep. Start the machine. It is ready to be served once the sahlep mixture is 80-90 ºC.   May be served with powder cinnamon. Service suggestion.
How to make home-made Salep
For six people, mix 2 tea spoons of salep flour with 2,5 tea spoons of sugar. Slowly add 3,5 glasses of cold milk, and stir.
Finally boil the mixture while stirring on low fire for 10 to 15 minutes.
Serve hot in a cup dusting with grinded cinnamon, nutmeg or ginger on top.

One of the oldest is salep, an incredibly delicious Turkish drink that is known since the time of the Ottoman Empire. This drink is prepared from the tubers of wild orchids. The tubers are harvested, then washed, boiled and dried. Next, they are grounded into a fine powder that gives this drink a specific earthy flavor along with a creamy texture.
This hot drink is consumed especially during the cold winter months, to help soothe coughs and inhibit bronchitis. Ottoman sailors were using salep when gone on a long journey to keep them healthy.
The orchids used for sahlep grow in the mountains of southern Turkey (Orchis Latifolia / Orchis Anatolica). Their tubers are pulled from the ground while the plant is flowering and then they are boiled (in water or milk) before being dried and then ground into a powder.
The orchids contain a nutritious starch-like polysaccharide (complex carbohydrate) called bassorin, which accounts for the drinks thickened consistency.
Salep’ Is Known For Its Healing Powers
In Turkey, salep is respected not only for its lovely taste, but also for its health benefits. Salep helps relieve chest congestion and prevents bronchitis. It empowers the heart, increases energy levels and boost sexual desire. Also, it is believed to ease constipation.
The name sahlep refers to the powder
It's not surprising then that sahlep is considered an aphrodisiac and, anecdotally, even the word orchid derives from the Greek word for testicle.
Before tea and coffee spread so widely, it is believed that sahlep was the beverage of choice in Europe and the Middle East and variations, known as satyrion and priapiscus were certainly consumed in Ancient Roman times. As Priapiscus was a god of fertility and the satyrs were often thought to be a debauched lot, it is assumed that the Ancient Roman drinks were considered aphrodisiacs too.
