XLNT! Logical Devices Prompro-7 Dual ZIF LinnDrum EPROM Programmer w/Manuals

This is a Logical Devices, Inc. model PROMPRO-7 EPROM Programming Unit serial number 1388 in excellent cosmetic condition with very few scratches. I do not know how to test it so I do not know if it works or not (I don't have my EPROMs here, I normally use an Oberheim Prommer the last four decades, etc.).
This rare old unit was made in late 1984, I got it with load of electronic music gear in the mid-90s. I don't know if anyone is going to believe this and it doesn't matter (I've always said I have more gear than anyone, see the photos of a glimpse down just one of the hallways in the warehouse, I DO have more gear than anyone, where do people think I get it, from housewives? These machines come from various music industry companies and professionals, including Jackson. I have his personal Mitsubishi X-80 recorder, sugar bowl, and flight case that he'd used going back to around '78 w/Jackson 5 that says DAVID WILLIAMS on it. Along with other things related to Synclaviers. Plus I have Janet Jackson's two Synclaviers, each the size of two giant Synclaviers. I have it all.), but this was owned by Michael Jackson and was used with the various LinnDrums used for touring (and production, I think). It goes without saying that he didn't operate it himself, he had at-home "drum machine lessons" to learn to use drum machines, lulz, so we can assume his keyboard techs, etc. were burning the alternate sound chips for his LinnDrums.
I sold most of the gear I thought I didn't need to use, decided to keep two pieces for myself, and, for some reason, I thought I had SOLD this EPROM programmer in 2000-2001. But a couple times in recent years I've seen the PROMPRO-7 Instruction Manual in my library and wondered why I had it, as I thought I'd sold that. And just last week I was checking giant flight cases not opened for 10-15 years, and I partially unloaded a flight case packed with 80s drum machines and items related to them, and  I found this PROMPRO-7 bubblewrapped inside a bag, behind a row of drum machines. I think that's why I didn't see it the several times that case was opened (you can see it in the photos, a MASS of gear), as I probably didn't pull those drum machines out. This time I had to locate one of my SCI Drumtraks to check some parts for customers, and in the process I had to move a number of my DMX, DX, Drumlators, etc. around, and found that shopping bag with this EPROM programmer in it right behind that row of machines.
From the manual "PROMPRO-7 REV. 2.0 4-1-84":
"THE PROMPRO-7 IS A STAND-ALONE UNIT COMPLETE WITH CABINET AND POWER SUPPLY. IT IS DESIGNED TO BE USED WITH A MINIMUM AMOUNT OF EFFORT. USER CAN BECOME FAMILIAR WITH OPERATION OF THE UNIT IN JUST A FEW SHORT MINUTES. THERE ARE THREE BASIC MODES OF OPERATIONS: STAND-ALONE, TERMINAL CONTROLLED, AND COMPUTER CONTROLLED."
Among the many uses for the PROMPRO-7, it can burn EPROMs to copy sounds for the Linn LM-1, Linndrum, Linn 9000, Oberheim DMX and DX, and all other 8-bit drum machines. It can also be used to copy software EPROMs for old synths such as the Prophet-5 to act as a backup before the original EPROM fails (and they do, though it is very, very rare, flash/SD is what you need to watch out for, don't put your contents in that storage medium).
Some people use these to copy a higher revision of Prophet software from a friend to avoid having to buy it from Whine Country.
I don't know how to use this machine and I haven't tried. It has been in storage ever since the late 80s, it went from one storage to mine. All switch caps and small parts are intact. The contacts of the ZIF sockets look to be in good condition.
I thought someone would ask what firmware it has, so I opened it and took a clear high resolution photo and put it in the photo gallery. That chip just says "P P 7", so I don't know what version it is.
This includes a large spiral bound instruction manual, plus an extra manual for the XP7 update, which this unit may or may not have (it probably has it because this manual was shipped with it, unless it was an extra cost alternate option not opted for).
The factory seal on the rear of the unit had never been broken until I opened it to get this photo for you.
There are no other accessories included.
This is in good cosmetic condition but it has never been used by Synhouse so the usability of it is unknown. It is being sold as-is and nothing else is known about this unit.
